Can you imagine an authentic Indian meal so simple your 11-year-old could prepare it?

Probably not. In America, even adults find Indian cuisine too layered to attempt. As a result, most of us leave it out of our diets entirely, but, in doing so we miss out on a world of flavors.

That is why we are happy to learn about companies like Anar Gourmet Foods, whose spice-mixes are not only making authentic South Indian food accessible, but also easy and fast to make.

Priya Osuri founded Anar Gourmet Foods with a commitment to quality: honoring the legendary cooking of her mother and grandmother.

“Anybody who’s ever tasted my mom’s cooking loves it,” Priya tells us. “They don’t forget it, even decades later.”

Anar Gourmet Foods offers hand-blended, pure spices that are certified gluten-free, MSG & nut free with no preservatives, and KETO-friendly. All ingredients (yes, even her grandmother’s secret ones!) are printed on the mixes’ labels, next to step-by-step instructions for concocting each dish.

“We obsessed over every single word in the instructions because Indian food is really complex,” Priya tells us. “How do you make it so simple that anybody, even my 11 year old, can take it and cook with it?”

Priya’s spice mixes are, in fact, easy enough for her son to cook with. In addition, they have easily adjustable spice levels, and all of the extra ingredients you will need can be found at your local grocery store, saving you a trip to the Indian market.

Even better, the convenience factor for Anar Gourmet Foods’ meals skyrockets when you consider the possibility for experimentation.

Fun Fact: “Anar” is the name of Priya’s son, spelled backwards!

When asked if customers can get creative with her spice mixes, Priya beamed. “Absolutely. I’m very encouraging of that because I’m learning, too,” she says.

For examples of creative American-Indian fusion recipes, try Priya’s salmon cream cheese dip and avocado and eggs breakfast.

We could go on and on about how delicious we think Priya’s recipes are, but don’t take our word for it. Instead take the word of their many happy customers— Anar Gourmet Foods has 51 reviews on their site, and all of them are 5-stars.

On Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 4 pm ET, we are pleased to welcome Priya for an Indian-American Fusion cooking class (click here to sign up!), where she will demo how to make Chicken Tikka Masala and South Indian Coconut Rice, and she will show you more spice mixes available for purchase.
